Personal Power Pillowcases
Personal Power Pillowcases are a great resource for those who are seeking to fix the root of the problem
in their health care issues rather than just taking a prescription or over the counter drug which may
mask the true issue just enough to give you some relief until you have to take yet another drug to
counteract the side affects of the first drug, and risk getting addicted to meds in the process. These
pillowcases are so fun to create! You will literally be amazed at what a difference they make in your life.
It is so wonderful that something so fun and beautiful can be such a powerful healing tool.
How to make / sew your own set of Personal Power Pillowcases:
When purchasing the fabric for my pillowcases I usually ask for an extra 2" of material for each piece I am purchasing so
that I have room for squaring up the pieces. To make one standard / queen pillowcase I purchase a 30
inch piece, a 12 inch piece and a 5 inch piece. If I am making a matching pair then I purchase a 58 inch
piece, a 22 inch piece and an 8 inch piece. IF you want a standard /queen size pair of pillowcases
that have the design running horizontal across the pillowcase you will need to purchase 1 1/4 yards of
material.
Note: Yardage is for one pillowcase so if you want a matching pair you will need to double the
amount of material to be purchased. Dye lots can vary from bolt to bolt so if you want a matching pair,
purchase all the material from the same bolt of material.
For a matching pair of King sized pillowcases I purchase 2 ˝ yards for the base, a 22 inch piece and an 8
inch piece. Depending on if the design runs vertical or horizontal. You will want to cut the base part of
the pillowcase to be 22 ˝ inches wide and 35 inches long.
When choosing the material for your pillowcases, look at the end of the bolt of material and make sure
you are purchasing 100% cotton for all your pieces of material, as 100% cotton is the most natural
substance for you to sleep on and have against your skin. Silk would work too but is difficult to sew
and embroider on so I choose to work with cotton.

Keep in mind that material is alive and has a mind of its own. It will stretch as you sew it and do
things that make it difficult to produce an exactly perfectly squared up pillowcase with perfect straight
lines. If you take it to be embroidered on the same will apply and not every letter or design comes out
perfect. Accept the imperfections and just love it for what it is.
Fabric layout tip: When cutting material for a horizontal design you will have to turn the material
before cutting it so that the pattern runs horizontal across the pillowcase. Watch closely what end you
sew the two other pieces to on each end of the pillowcases so that the design is one continuous pattern
running the same direction on both pillowcases when making a matching set; if that is the look you want.
It works best to lay them both out on a table next to each other then pin the 3 inch piece on to each
opposite end so that you know they are running the right direction to be a matched set on the bed together.
Make sure that both seams are at the top of the pillowcase so that they match after being sewn together.
Step 1. Iron the wrinkles out of all the pieces so they are nice and smooth and measure properly.
Step 2. Cut and square off all the pieces of material.
Step 3. Take the 3 inch piece and fold it in half length ways then iron it so that you have a fold line
to follow when you sew it onto the 28 inch piece.
Step 4. Open up the material to be one long piece instead of a folded piece of material. Putting
right sides together, pin along the top so that the 3 inch piece and the 28 inch piece are flush.
Sewing Tip: When you pin your material together make sure you keep the knob end of the sewing pin
to the right outside edge so that as you sew you can easily pull the pins out of the material before the
needle runs over the pin. If you run over a pin it most likely will break your sewing machine needle, so
pull the pin out before the needle gets to it to avoid that from happening.
Step 5. Press 3 inch piece to lay folded back. Trim off all extra threads so that there are no
long or loose threads that could show through your 10 inch piece once you sew the 10 inch piece onto the
pillowcase.
Step 6. Roll up the 28 inch piece into a small roll so that you can pin the 10 inch piece around it on
both sides so all the ends are together.
Step 7. Sew along the edge of your pillowcase.
Step 8. Pull the material out from inside the roll.
Step 9. Press the seams upward to lay the material flat.
Step 10. Line up the edges of your pillowcase and trim off the excess if need be so they are
squared up with the body of the pillowcase.
Step 11. At the end of the pillowcase, pin the right sides of the pillowcase together with the
right sides facing each other. Serge the end and the side leaving extra thread at the end by the opening
of the pillow case. Take this long end and with a darning needle run the thread up into the seams of the
inside of the pillowcase so that the string is buried in the seam. This will keep the end from coming
undone.
Step 12. Iron the pillowcase and then take it to be embroidered on or stitch, paint or write words on it
yourself.
NOTE: Embroidery work can be done on the commercial machines more easily if you take them to be embroidered
on before you sew the ends and sides together. This may prevent damage to your pillowcase and make for a more precise
lettering.
On one side of the pillowcase put the phrases: I love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.
ou use long words at the bottom it is more difficult to keep the wording from running downward and
uckering the material. I prefer the longer words at the bottom so you may see some puckering of the
aterial underneath. There is a certain amount of puckering around each letter that is normal when doing
embroidery work. You may choose what words you want and the order they are put on the pillowcase however
you run a larger risk of extra uckering when longer words are near the bottom. Personally I like the
words to get longer and stagger down the pillowcase so I choose to take the risk of the puckering
occurring.
On the other side of the pillowcase put words that empower you. Here is a list of suggested personal
power words. Abundance, Adventure, Awareness, Balance, Beautiful, Beauty, Believe, Charity, Clarity,
Communication, Compassion, Courage, Creativity, Delight, Dream, Education, Efficiency, Enthusiasm,
Expectancy, Faith, Flexibility, Forgiveness, Freedom, Grace, Gratitude, Harmony, Healing, Honesty, Hope,
Humor, Inspiration, Integrity, Joy, Light, Love, Loveable, Patience, Peace, Purification, Purpose,
Release, Respect, Responsibility, Simplicity, Spontaneity, Synthesis, Tolerance, Transformation, Trust,
Truth, Understanding, Unity, Willingness, Wisdom, and Worthy.
Washing tip: The first time you wash your pillowcase use vinegar water to wash it in and it will
hold the colors better. Use at least one cup of vinegar to a small load of water.
When working on your personal power pillowcases keep love as your focus. It is important that these pillowcases are made in the energy of love so only work on your pillowcases
when you feel love in your heart, for you want everything about these pillowcases to radiate love. When
your pillowcases are completed, wash them before sleeping on them with the intention that you are washing
away any negative feelings that the material may have absorbed from anyone who had anything to do with
the production of your pillowcases including every aspect even as far back as the condition of the soil
and the person who tilled the soil where the cotton seed was planted. Intend for all negative energies
being washed away to be transmuted for good to the highest divine benefit of all.
THE PERSONAL POWER PILLOWCASES STORY by Beverly Dunford
A car accident in 1999 left me with pain. Because of this, I was unable to sleep well enough
to experience REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. As it is during sleep time that the body can heal itself,
I simply was not getting the rest that I needed and it was adversly affecting my health.
In my attempt to heal, I read many self help books including:
You Can Heal Your Life, The Hearts Code,
The Power of Intention, Power Vs. Force, The Hidden Messages In Water, Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer,
and The Secret. From these and others, I learned the importance of positive affirmations and began
to incorporate them into my daily life. Still nothing changed and I began to wonder why my health was not
improving. I realized I was saying the words, but in my heart I didn't
"feel" what I was saying.
It was difficult for me to
"feel" something that I simply didn't know what it
"felt" like
to
"feel". Because I couldn't
"feel" the words, I was unable to heal.
Masaru Emoto's research on the vibrational power of words and how they affect the quality of water really
stirred something inside of me. As I thought about all of this, it dawned on me that since our bodies by
weight are over 70 percent water, and our brains by molecule count are 99 percent water, then written WORDS could
improve the condition of my body too!
As I pondered it further, I realized that I could add the element of color therapy by using the colors of
the different chakra centers of my body. I could use colors together with words that were appropriate
for balancing out each of the seven chakras, then I would get lots of positive self-healing therapy in
each sleep session!
By October of 2007 I had my set completed and began sleeping on a different color each night with different
words. Within a few weeks, I noticed I was dreaming again. To me this was a miracle! By December I
realized that every morning I woke up remembering I'd been dreaming, and I have been dreaming every night
since! Each morning when I awake, I am so excited that I slept so well, that I just have to say out loud,
"thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU for such a good nights rest!" When you experience a goods nights rest, I highly recommend that you give thanks
too, for there is a positive power that comes through an "attitude of gratitude".
Now, I fall asleep each night quickly with just a few slow deep breathes. I wake less often in the night,
and I sleep more soundly. My body is now able to experience the healing powers of REM sleep. I now
have more energy, less pain, and my body is balancing itself out so that I experience less
anxiety and depression.
Personal Power Pillowcases truly are a labor of love. They have dramatically changed my life, and I want
to help others experience these same amazing benefits in their lives too. As you drift off to sleep with
the words and the colors on your mind, your body will continue to
"feel" their
vibrational energy. This is one bodywork session you get to enjoy over and over again,
every time you lay on your Personal Power Pillowcase!
Joseph in the Bible (Genesis 37) whose father lovingly made him a coat of many colors to
wear, wore his coat of many colors and then he began to dream. Miracles can happen for you too!
"The best gift you can give yourself and your child is the abilty to fall asleep at night without the use of a
sleeping pill or sedative drug of any type."--- Beverly Dunford
Better Rest Sleep Tips:
* Avoid eating a few hours before bedtime, especially salty foods that make you thirsty
and want to drink and then cause you to retain water. For the best health, eat 6 small meals throughout
the day and have your last meal over with by 7:00 PM or two hours before you plan on going to bed. If you
feel hungry after 7:00 PM eat only "fresh" fruit. Fresh fruit with no dips or sauces etc. digests the
most rapidly thus allowing your body a longer elimination cycle so that you can properly eliminate first
thing in the morning, which will help clear the toxins out of your intestines. For good health, the rule
of thumb is food in, food out on a regular daily basis so if you aren't have a few bowel movements a day,
toxins are staying inside you way too long and you will feel best when your bowels are moving properly.
Exercise helps your bowels move, if you move so will they! It isn't just about consuming enough fiber; you
need to exercise if you want to have good health. It is best for your stomach and digestion system to sit
when you are eating so that the stomach has a support system while taking in the food and to wait two hours
before lying down so that your digestive system has the benefit of gravity working with it to help in the
digestion process.
* Thirty to sixty minutes after eating dinner, put a 1/2 teaspoon of pure sodium bicarbonate (baking soda
with no additional ingredients)into a small glass of water and stir it until the soda is all dissolved.
Drink this to help prevent heart burn and acid reflex issues. Soda helps to neurtalize the pH in your body
and creates a more alkaline state which is needed for good health.
* When we keep our bowels flowing naturally, we feel better. As you lay in bed, gently massage your
stomach, starting on the right side and going in an upside down U or clockwise in a circular motion. This
will help stir the energy and get things moving in your bowels to help dislodge toxins that could get
caught in the small crevices of your intestinal tract. Doing so will help you be able to properly
eliminate when you wake in the morning. An apple a day really will help keep the doctor away. A whole
fresh organic apple eaten with the skin on has pectin which is a great anti inflammatory and gives the
body lots of fiber to help keep the bowels moving. Due to all the pesticides typically put on food,
personally I only like to eat the skin of an apple when it is an organic apple.
* Clear your complexion by sleeping on a fresh clean pillowcase every night so that
the oils from your hair from the night before don't get on your face when you shift
around in the night. When your face is clear, you
feel better about yourself.
* The foods we eat affect our complexion as well. If we eat junk the body needs to
expel it somehow and so acne can be because our bodies are working so hard to find a
way to expel the toxins we are filling our bodies full of. We are what we eat, so
don't expect a clean pillowcase to clear up a body that is constantly being filled
with junk foods. Eating healthy fresh foods helps to clean your body from the inside
out and gives you more energy and helps you
feel better.
*Fresh ginger is a good anti inflammatory and a nice warm cup of fresh ginger tea an hour before bedtime
can relieve joint pain and help you fall asleep more quickly.
* Make your bedroom a private sanctuary that you love to retreat off to. Clutter in
your house creates clutter in your mind. When you
feel comfortable in your
environment, you get better rest so clear out the clutter!
* Keep live plants in your bedroom to help with the quality of the air. When we humans
breathe out we give off carbon dioxide, when we breathe in we fill our bodies with
fresh oxygen needed to metabolize food, using energy. Deep breathing will help you
lose weight. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off fresh oxygen so they clean
up our environment and give us fresh oxygen to breathe in, which makes our bodies
feel better.
* Sleeping with a fan running will help stir the air in your bedroom so that you
aren't breathing in stale air all night. Germs grow wild in a stale environment so
you will
feel healthier if you keep the air circulating in your house. I recommend a
ceiling fan which you can leave on 24/7 year round.
* Have your ceiling fan turn clockwise in the winter months to pull warm air down and then
set the switch in the position to turn counterclockwise in the warm months to keep the
air moving. With the fans I have had, the button in the down position is the
counterclockwise setting.
* If you need to purchase a free standing fan because you aren't able to install a
ceiling fan, I recommend you get one that is in a set position so that you don't have
to hear the noise of it oscillating back and forth. The constant sound of the fan
will act as a buffer for outside noises once you acclimate to the constant noise of
the fan.
* Open your windows for a little while each day to let in fresh air. Fresh air helps
you feel better because it circulates out stale air where germs can fester. I like to keep one
window in my house cracked open 24/7 so that my house has access to constant fresh air. You can purchase locks that fit
on the bottom of your window sill to secure an open window.
* When the air outside is cooler than the air inside, by placing one fan inside an
open window so that it blows the cool air into your room, you can position another
fan in the opposite end of the house and turn it on so that the fan is blowing the
warm air from inside the house outside. This way the two fans work together to
circulate fresh cool air in and take hot stale air out.
* You will find it more quiet and peaceful to keep the bedroom window closed up tight
at night to help keep out noise. For those who suffer from allergies this is extremely
important as the wind may blow in dirt and pollen.
* Have a water fountain running 24/7 in your bedroom to help keep positive energy
flowing. This will also act as a buffer for outside noises once you acclimate to the
constant sound of the water flowing. It is important to get one that has a great
water sound you really enjoy listening to, and a very quiet running motor. Listening
to water helps you
feel grounded with the soothing loving nurturing energy of Mother Earth.
* At night time, unplug from the wall all the things that put off electrical energy
like clocks with digital numbers, computers with little lights that stay on, monitors, TV's, the cable etc. for they
put off energy to light up a power button etc. Unplug the cable whenever you are not using it.
* Use Feng Shui to help keep the positive energy flow in all your rooms. Keep plugs
in the sinks and bathtubs and close the toilet lids so that your positive energy
doesn't get sucked down the drain. Replace things that are broken so that you don't
have broken energy around. Change a burned out light bulb as soon as it burns out
and pluck off dead leaves from your plants as soon as you notice them dying so that you
don't have dead energy looming about.
* In the evening dim the lights or use lamps that have dim lighting around the house so that it is a more
calm and soothing atmosphere. This helps you
feel more relaxed.
* Avoid listening to loud noise, violent or negative shows, radio stations, news channels, etc.,
especially the hour or so just before bedtime. Keep your thoughts positive and upbeat and you will
feel better.
* The first thing you hear in the morning is what your mind will focus on all day long
and the last thing you hear at night is what your mind will focus on all night long.
What you focus on expands so be aware of your thoughts for your thoughts make you
feel
a certain way depending on what you are thinking.
* Listen to relaxing music an hour or so before bedtime to help unwind your mind for a peaceful nights
rest. Relaxing music helps you
feel calm.
* Breathe in and out several deep slow breathes to re-oxygenate your body as you lay in
bed to go to sleep. Fresh oxygen makes it possible for all your vital organs to
function at optimal levels. You may even
feel your toes tingle as your body gets the
fresh oxygen that it needs to function properly. Focusing on your breathing will help
you quiet your mind so that you can fall asleep more easily.
* If you are too awake to fall asleep, lie in bed and listen to something that is very
soothing and peaceful to listen to like relaxing soft music or a positive book on
tape by an author with a soft voice, and do some deep breathing. This will help
you quiet your mind so that you can
feel how tired your body is so that you can fall
asleep more easily.
* For the most comfortable rest, when I sleep I have four pillows with chakra balancing color therapy
Personal Power Pillowcases on them in bed with me. A somewhat flat pillow under my head to support my
neck, a fluffy one under my knees to support my spine, and a fluffy one on each side to rest my arms on
and then it is at my side so that which ever way I roll I have a pillow to hug to help properly position
my spine while sleeping on my side. When I do roll to my side, the pillow under my legs then goes between
my knees for proper spine support. When I first started sleeping with so many pillows it took me a week
or so to adjust however once I got used to it I
felt more comfortable as I laid in bed and I
could fall asleep more quickly. In the mornings, I woke up without back pain! Pillows instead of pain pills or sleeping pills, what a
concept!
* Sleeping with my Personal Power Pillowcases and having 12 power words around me affects all aspects
of my health, my spiritual body, my physical body, my emotional body, and my mental body. I
feel
less pain, my sleep is more sound
which is validated by the fact that I have more dreams, and I sleep longer periods of time without waking
when sleeping with my personal power pillowcases, you may too!
What is a
?
Chakras are vibrating centers of energy. There are seven major chakras in our bodies which influence
our psychological and physical well being. They have various levels of activity according to what is
going on in our lives.
The ideal state is for our chakras to be open, so the energy can freely flow to all the vital organs,
helping them to function properly. When the chakras are closed, our bodies are deprived of oxygen,
nutrients and vital life-force energy.
When our chakras are not open enough, they are considered to be under-active. To compensate, other
chakras may become over-active. When our chakras are balanced, we have the ideal condition for optimal
mental and physical health.
Each chakra is associated with a specific color. The vibrational energy of these specific colors help to
open the chakras, creating "balance" throughout our entire being.
Eclectic Energies has wonderful information about the chakras on their website at
http://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/ where you can take take a test to see how balanced out
your chakras are and what chakras are over-active or under-active. You may also take the Enneagram test
to learn your personality type, and enhance your emotional well-being with the energy healing recommendations
for each Enneagram type. There are also acupressure points and chakra meditations you can learn to help
balance out your chakras.

I am energized and nurtured by the earth. I am happy and optimistic. I am one with Source and everything and everyone
in the universe.
