Draping:

The client benefits most from the massage if they are completely undressed between the sheets. This allows me to work your muscles without worrying about needing to work around underclothing. If you are menstruating and would like to leave your underwear on, please inform me of such.

Draping is done in a modest manner in which only the portion of the body being worked on is left undraped at a time. There are modalities that do not require you to get undressed so if you are concerned about being undressed between the sheets express your concern to me and together we can decide which modality would best fit your personal needs.

PROUD GRANDMA DEGREE, Logan Regional Hospital, November 19, 2000 I watched my first grandson be born and held him on my chest all night long. November 2, 2004 at my daughter's house I delivered my second grandson when my daughter had a Home Birth Delivery and the Midwife couldn't get there in time to help deliver the baby. I kept telling my daughter to call the midwife but children tend to not heed their parents advice and she thought she could wait and let the midwife sleep longer…this time I'm glad she didn't listen for it gave me the opportunity of getting to deliver the baby myself. We were all grateful there were no complications and that the midwife got there 20 minutes later to guide my daughter through cutting the umbilical cord and then taking over the clean up.

March 18, 2007 I got to help assist my other daughter through her labor and watch the birth as her doctor delivered her first child, my third grandchild, a girl, making me a very happy grandma! My son-in-law was the best labor coach my daughter could have ever asked for. It was such a beautiful heart warming experience watching them as he would breathe with her and be so attentive, kind and loving. I would massage her hands, arms, legs and feet between contractions and then as the contractions got more intense her husband would count for her breathing and I would breathe with her, then put fresh cold washcloths on her forehead between contractions, as she worked through an all natural labor and delivery in a birthing room at the Logan Regional Hospital.

MASSAGE AS PREVENTIVE MEDICINE:

  • The increase of circulation throughout our body gets oxygen and needed nutrients to our vital organs so they can function properly, thereby keeping the body chemistry in good balance allowing our metabolism to be able to burn fat, build muscle and maintain a healthy body weight; massage increases circulation of blood throughout the body.

  • Increased circulation aids in the recovery from injuries such as whiplash, sprains, strains and fractures. This is possible because the growth and recovery of tissue is accelerated by efficient circulation in the injured areas. Any impact on your body causes soft tissue damage and receiving massage will get the blood flow to those injured areas so that your body can heal.

  • Massage enhances skin condition directly improving the function of the sebaceous and sweat glands which help release toxins out of the body and keep the skin lubricated, clean, cooled, soft and supple thus giving us a more youthful appearance.

  • Deep tissue massage can help break up and get rid of scar tissue and cellulite.

  • Massage can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain killers, into the brain and nervous system, thus giving relief from pain and sending us on a "natural" high.

  • Cranial Sacral therapy can help release restrictions and restore balance and flow within the physical system consisting of the bones of the head, the spine, the sacrum, the soft tissue surrounding all of these parts, and the cerebral spinal fluid. This fluid is responsible for nourishment, lubrication and removing toxins within the system as well as maintaining the overall environment that the brain and spinal system exist in, and can help relieve symptoms of chronic and migraine headaches, depression, anxiety, anger, TMJ, nervous disorders, low back pain, neck injuries, colic, ear problems, sinus problems, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and brain injury and chemical imbalances.

  • Kind and loving touch such as what therapeutic massage provides is vital for our positive human growth and development on a mental, physical and spiritual level for it stimulates positive cell growth and rejuvenation while nurturing our soul.

  • Receiving massage on a regular weekly basis can helps to keep the muscles and skin well toned.

  • Stress is the major contributor to all disease and massage helps to relieve stress.

NO ONE ESCAPES AN ACCIDENT INJURY FREE

If you need to receive massage in the Chiropractors office in order for your insurance to reimburse you or cover it, find a Chiropractor who has a professional licensed massage therapist working for him in his office and request that you receive a massage by the massage therapist before your adjustment, for your spine will move into proper position better if you have had a hands on massage just prior to your adjustment.

Many chiropractic offices have water tables or massage chairs that you can sit in or lay on and get massaged by. The Chiropractor gets paid for offering you that service just as if he had a licensed massage therapist there giving you a massage. Stand up for your rights, assert yourself and request a hands on massage before the adjustment and then ask if you may lay on a water table or sit in a massage chair after your adjustment so that your adjustment has time to settle. Doing it this way would be providing yourself with the best care you could possibly ask for.

If you don't take time to give yourself the care you need right after an accident, you will wish you had later when you find yourself in pain and unable to do all the things that you used to be able to enjoy doing. Many debilitating injuries could be avoided by properly taking care of the soft tissue damage when it first occurs. Please learn from my mistakes and spare yourself the pain and agony that uncared for soft tissue damage creates.

Immediately after your accident tell your insurance adjuster that you want and need to be treated for soft tissue damage and assert yourself to be given the care you deserve to have and have been paying for with your monthly insurance premiums, and by law, the benefits that you are rightly entitled to receive when in an accident. Go to a medical doctor and get an MRI done so that you have documentation of soft tissue damage that occurred from the accident on x-ray pictures for this will provide you the proof you need to get proper care.

When you have been involved in an auto accident and are receiving care for personal injuries, your insurance will reimburse you for massage as a form of therapeutic treatment if you assert yourself and ask for massage to be part of your treatment plan. You have the right to request the care you feel your body responds well to and may divide your allotted visits between several health practitioners if you so choose, as a few chiropractic adjustments would greatly benefit your body right after an accident as well.

You will adjust better and more easily if you receive massage right before your adjustment. Assert yourself to have a massage first and then go immediately to get adjusted after your massage. On personal injury claims they may reimburse you for up to 21 sessions of massage therapy if that is the health care program you choose to receive.

Many health insurances offer massage as a preventive health care benefit and will reimburse you for therapeutic massage and bodywork. Call your insurance today and see if massage is part of your current health maintenance plan. It may be financially worth it to upgrade your insurance options to include massage for you and your family. Many plans allow for 20 massage visits a year for each person in your family. If you already have chiropractic care as a benefit, you can get massage with your adjustment as part of the chiropractic visit if you go to a chiropractor that has massage therapy services offered for these visits can be billed by the chiropractor.

Massage is the most natural health care program you can invest in. You and your loved ones deserve the health care benefits that massage can bring into your lives!

Doing it this way would be providing yourself with the best care you could possibly ask for. If you don’t take time to give yourself the care you need right after an accident, you will wish you had later when you find yourself in pain and unable to do all the things that you used to be able to enjoy doing. So much permanent injury could be avoided by properly taking care of the soft tissue damage when it first occurs. Please learn from my mistakes and spare yourself the pain and agony that uncared for soft tissue damage creates.

Most people don't realize they have received soft tissue damage and will say they are fine and forfeit the available treatment they are entitled to receive under the insurance stipulations. Weeks or months later your body may break down with fatigue, depression, joint pain, muscle weakness etc. because of the untreated soft tissue damage that occurred at the time of your accident.

Chronic fatigue can set in when we leave our soft tissue damage unattended to. No one escapes an accident injury free. You may feel fine at the time, but the soft tissue damage will catch up with you later after you have already signed away your insurance rights.

Hold off on a settlement until you have had many months to get the care you need and make sure your body has healed properly. Some insurances are quick to call right after your accident to see if you are alright and at the time you may seem to be fine and state that you were not hurt. They then want you to stipulate that in writing for they can then encourage you to make a quick small settlement.

It often takes a few weeks for the soreness to become apparent to you as the inflammation builds where you received injury. You may feel fine right after the accident, however the soreness may set in weeks or months later after the insurance has persuaded you to settle. Then it is too late to get reimbursed for the needed care. You deserve to be treated for soft tissue damage to prevent more extreme difficulties that are sure to surface later if the soft tissue damage is not properly treated immediately after an accident.

Massage gets blood to the injured tissue so that it can heal properly. After an accident, immediately call your insurance company and tell your insurance adjuster that you want and need to be treated for soft tissue damage. Assert yourself to be given the care you deserve to receive and that your body needs to heal properly!

According to the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, 1998, people involved in accidents are classified into these grades and are entitled to care as outlined below:

Grade 1 injuries

Minimal injury; no limitation of range of motion, no neurological symptoms (soft tissue damage that isn't noticeably detected right after an accident occurs) are allowed up to 10 weeks of therapy and 21 sessions within that 10 week period. This level would apply to any person involved in an accident no matter the severity of the damage done to your car. Soft tissue damage occurs to our bodies when we receive whiplash from the sudden impact of being hit by something that causes our bodies to go forward and backward or backward and forward quickly.

Grade 2 injuries

Slight injury; limitation of range of motion, no neurological symptoms. You may receive up to 29 weeks of care receiving a total of up to 33 visits in those 29 weeks of care.

Grade 3 injuries

Moderate injury; limitation of range of motion, some ligamentous injury, neurological symptoms. You may receive up to 56 weeks of care receiving up to 76 visits within those 56 weeks of care.

Grade 4 injuries

Moderate to severe injury; as above plus ligamentous instability, and fracture or disc injury. You may require lifetime care.

Grade 5 injuries

Severe injury; requires surgery. You are entitled to post surgery care depending on the recommendation and duration as prescribed by your doctor; most cases would be entitled at least 20 visits.

Sports and Family Chiropractic Group located on the upper level of the Medical Plaza at 990 S. Medical Drive UL-1, Brigham City, UT 84302, has wonderful Chiropractors and I highly recommend their services. You may reach them at 1-435-723-2311.

SUGGESTED WEIGHT GUIDELINES FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH:

Excess body fat taxes our vital organs and is very unhealthy for our bodies. Insurances give less expensive rates to people who are weight height proportionate because they produce fewer expenses in claims for illness. This is a guideline recommended by an insurance company. For a man with a small frame, take 100 pounds for the first five feet then add 6 pounds for every inch over five feet. For a medium frame add 7 pounds for every inch over five feet, for a large frame add 8 pounds for every inch over five feet and for an extra large frame add 9 pounds for every inch over five feet. For a woman take away one pound for each frame size. Thus if you are a woman who is 5'8" and have a medium frame you would weigh 148 to be at optimal weight for your height. As muscle weighs more that fat, people who exercise are going to weigh more than people who do not exercise yet they will look more slender even though they weigh more.

Weighing an extra 10 pounds when it is toned muscle can be a very healthy situation. It is found that those who maintain optimal weights experience better overall health. Keeping your body mass index below 24 will be a good gauge as to how healthy you most likely are. Keeping the BMI range between 19 – 24 is found to be most healthy as long lean muscles allow good blood flow to get to the vital organs so people with a BMI below 24 experience more optimal health. It may be difficult for a woman to conceive a child if she is below 20 on the BMI chart.

A man with a waist of more than 40 inches and a woman with a waist of more than 35 inches are more prone to debilitating health issues and it could be an indication of central obesity, especially if you have a small or medium frame as all that extra weight around the middle taxes the vital organs and is a detriment to good health.

To limit and control central obesity, we need to stop filling our bodies with so many sweeteners, unhealthy fats, and toxins such as all the fillers put in medications and supplements, mineral oil (which is a liquid petrolatum same as petroleum jelly or soft paraffin) often used in makeup and body and skin care products etc., the chemical toxins we put on our bodies when using hair dyes, finger nail products etc., carnauba wax, beeswax, hydrogenated oils, partially hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, aspartame, fructose, modified corn starch, sucrose, artifical colors, corn syrup, frutose, artifical flavors and sweeteners, white flour, artificial preservatives, pesticides, chemicals in our water including fluoridation, genetically modified foods which lose food value, etc.

GOOD HEALTH COMES FROM HEALTHY HABITS

Following these suggestions for healthy health habits could put you at your ideal weight for optimal health within a 12 month time period. Good health and staying in great shape is not about "going on a diet", it is about "LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE". Try these suggestions for one month and see what kind of difference they can make in your life.

  1. Sleep soundly and enjoy better rest on PERSONAL POWER PILLOWCASES and PERSONALITY PILLOWCASES which Bev lovingly designs and imprints with the energy of love. They are for purchase on the sign up page of this website.

  2. If you are used to drinking whole or 2% milk and wean yourself down to using 1% or skim milk over a year's time of drinking 1% or skim milk, you will maintain a 10 pound weight loss. You can do this by mixing half whole or 2% with half 1% then decrease the amount of whole or 2% a little more each day until you get weaned down to 1%. You can then mix half 1% with half skim and diminish the amount of 1% each day until you get down to skim if that is your desire.

  3. If you drink soda pop each day and give it up almost completely, except for an occasional root beer float or soft drink once in a while, drinking water in its place, you could lose up to 10 pounds over a year's period of time for each can of soda pop per day you give up. It doesn't matter if you are drinking a diet pop or not, as all soft drinks fill your body full of toxins which interfere with proper organ functioning.

  4. Our bodies need lots of water to maintain proper organ functioning requiring us to drink at least 1/2 oz. of water per day for each pound of body weight, so if you want to be healthy, drink lots of water! When our organs function properly our metabolism is able to burn fat so that we don't get overweight.

  5. If you can’t see yourself giving up soda pop right now, at least drink as many ounces of water each day as you do soda pop. Tell yourself that after drinking 16 oz. of water you can have a soda pop and then drink 16 oz. of water again before you have another soda pop rotating between soda pop and water. You will feel yourself feeling better the less soda pop that you consume and you will begin to appreciate water for being the great thirst quencher that it truly is. You will find yourself wanting to gift your body with the water it requires for proper organ functioning instead of drinking soda pop and other high sugar or sweetened drinks.

  6. Those who are addicted to coffee, alcohol, or sweetened beverages may find this a good formula to follow for cutting back on consuming so much caffeine and or sweeteners which also get in the way of allowing for good health.

  7. If you are not eating a good variety of healthy foods throughout the day, including a good amount of fresh greens like spinach, broccoli, green or red leaf lettuce etc, and you give up, for the most part the greasy fat and deep fried foods you have been eating that are high in both fat content and calories and low in food value, and start eating healthy fresh foods, you will be able to maintain a 10 pound weight loss over a year period of time.

  8. Grocery shop on a full stomach after eating a well balanced nourishing snack or meal so that you are not tempted to purchase quick and easy ready to eat junk foods. If you do find yourself feeling hungry at the store, quickly purchase yourself a fresh ripe banana and eat it as it will give you the sugar high you are most likely craving and yet will provide your body with much needed nutrients such as potassium.

  9. Eating 6 small meals throughout the day will keep your blood sugar level stable and help keep your waistline trimmer, as starving all day then gorging on huge amounts of food at one big meal stretches out our stomachs and causes the body to store fat as it fears it won't be fed again for a long time.

  10. Drinking a few cups of plain green tea, no sugar, honey, sweeteners, milk, cream ect. added each day will give you a good dose of "greens".

  11. Squeezing a fresh lemon on your salad and using a red wine vinegar as your salad dressing will give you better health and vitality too, or perhaps make an herb dressing using 1 oz. vinegar, 1 oz. natural unrefined sesame seed oil or extra virgin olive oil and 1 tsp. of Italian seasoning then throw in a dash of Cheyenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder too.

  12. Using plain yogurt in place of sour cream is a great healthy substitute.

  13. Rinsing off your meat under extremely hot running water after you have cooked it will remove the excess fat from it.

  14. Using garlic powder for seasoning everything in place of salt offers a great healthy taste to your foods and increases health as garlic boosts the immune system.

  15. Using natural mineral sea salt to season your food is a good salt for your body as it gives you all those needed trace minerals your body needs to function properly.

  16. Stop eating sugar on cereals, they taste great without sugar once you get accustomed to not having it.

  17. Stop stocking your cupboards with pre-sweetened cereals, refuse to eat them except on special occasions like Sunday mornings, Christmas morning or your birthday. Make them a treat for that is what they are; they do not qualify for the school breakfast/lunch nutrition food programs because they are not healthy enough foods.

  18. In my opinion, soda pop and pre-sweetened cereals or anything with preservatives, corn syrup, refined sugar or sweeteners and all the other chemicals manufactures put in our foods to make them addicting and sweet to taste, is what is creating our hyperactive and obese society. Having in the past owned and operated a daycare center for 12 years, I became very aware of what makes children hyper! With all the quick and easy junk foods so easily available to us at the grocery stores, and starring at us in the face at the check out stands at any store we go into, we simply are not getting the nutrition and water our bodies need to keep us healthy because we are filling ourselves with addicting refined sugars and toxic chemicals.

  19. If you need to wean away from sugar cereals, mixing them with bran cereals works great. Start half and half and then decrease the amount of sugar cereal each time you pour a bowl. Soon you will not even want the sugar cereals for your body will see the difference and desire more healthy foods.

  20. Keep fresh fruits around for children to snack on for they have natural sugars in them and are a healthier source of a sweet treat than refined sugar foods.

  21. Only have chips, pop and candy in the house for special occasions so that they are not available for constant snacking on.

  22. When you make these kinds of life maintenance adjustments to our household, you will lose more weight and keep it off permanently and you and everyone in your family will benefit from better health and increased vitality.

  23. If you are used to eating dinner after 7:00 p.m. and start eating your last meal of the day so that you are completely done eating by 7:00 p.m. and then you don't eat again for the rest of the evening, or if you do get hungry and want to eat, only eat fresh fruit as that doesn't have to be in the digestive tract very long so it won't mess up your digestive cycle already in process from dinner.

  24. Our bodies work in three cycles: digestion, assimilation and elimination. When we interfere with these cycles we back up our bowels because we don't allow them proper time for elimination before we force them back into digestion. Eating food in the late evening hours will force them back into digestion, as our bodies need an 8 hour cleansing period.

  25. If you want to eat junk food do it in the very early afternoon so that you have time to burn it off with physical activity throughout the afternoon and so that your digestive cycle can run its course in the evening thus allowing you the opportunity for proper elimination in the morning to help clear out your toxic wastes.

  26. Hint: The stronger the smell, the more toxic the waste, start paying attention and you will smell for yourself how "junk" foods produce the strongest smelling odors.

  27. We need to keep our colon cleaned out by eating lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, bran, and drinking lots of water. Unless you are having 2- 3 bowel movements a day, you aren't getting all the old toxins moved out of your intestines very well and they will eventually get so toxic that they will make you sick.

  28. Food in, food out is the pattern for good health. Massaging your stomach on a daily basis can help move these toxins out of your body. This can be done my making an upside down U on your stomach by starting on the lower right hand section of your lower abdomen and then going in an upward motion towards your head, turning and going across your stomach just under your rib cage then going downward on your left side.

  29. Taking a spoonful of flax seed, sesame seed, or omega 3 oils each day, morning and night will help keep things lubricated and moving as well. These oils are also good for giving our body rich nutrients they need which helps the brain be able to make the proper connections it needs to do to keep us functioning optimally.

  30. It is my personal opinion that hydrogenated oils are unhealthy for us and I prefer eating real butter over shortening and margarine type oils. Personally I use sesame seed oil or extra virgin olive oil for all my oil needs.

  31. You can also keep your lymph drains flowing well by extending and flexing your feet back and forth then going around in circles with your ankles for this will act as a lymph pump that will help keep toxins flowing out of our bodies by being pumped into our lymph system then flushed out in our urine by all the water we are drinking. In cases where I feel a client's colon may have some blockages, I refer people to go to an experienced colon hydro therapist and get their intestinal tract flushed out.

  32. This process is done as discretely as possible and does require having a speculum attached to a long hose connected to a sink, inserted into your anus. A very highly advanced technical machine gauges the pressure of how much hydrogenated water is going in and shuts off when you are full. Hydrogenated water kills all the bacteria and flushes everything out of your colon so it is important to take live acidophilus after receiving this treatment so as to replace the good bacteria in your intestines.

  33. It is best to get three treatments in a row, one every other day the first time you have this process done. If you have a large stomach, it is very likely that your bowels are backed up and flushing them out will remove all that excess waste. Some people have lost up to 15 pounds after receiving their first three sessions, no wonder they had such a large stomach!

  34. If you haven't been exercising and begin a 15 - 30 minute stretching routine or exercise program of some sort for at least 4 days out of each week, you can lose up to another 10 pounds over a year's time by exercising on a regular basis. Stretching keeps the blood flowing throughout our vital organs which allows our bodies to function at optimal levels of well being. I lay in bed when I first wake up in the morning and stretch out my entire body pretty good so that I am more limber and ready to deal with the daily activities required of my body. If you suffer with low back pain you will find this to be very beneficial in helping to lessen the pain you feel throughout the day.

  35. Breathing deeply throughout the day so that we get old air out and fresh new air in way down deep into our lungs, will give us better health and help us lose weight too. Our bodies need fresh oxygen to feed our vital organs the nutrients they need for optimal functioning. If you smoke, stop, for your lungs can't get the air they need for proper health when you are filling them full of toxins.

  36. If you are going to bed after 11:00 PM and not getting much rest, going to bed in the earlier hours of the evening will allow your body better sleep time. One can always do those unfinished projects in the early morning hours after a good nights rest, for the best rapid eye movement sleep happens in the hours before 3:00 AM. Getting good rest is important to skin elasticity, proper brain functioning, and overall health and vitality as it allows time for the body to rebuild and heal itself.

  37. Eating a handful of dried tart cherries (no sugar or sweeteners added) in the early evening is a great natural way to get extra melatonin into your system and also drinking a cup of decaffeinated Chamomile tea in the early evening will help calm you for a more peaceful nights rest. As it takes 45 minutes for the liquid to be expelled out of our system, it is best to drink most of your liquids earlier in the day. Limiting liquid intake in the evening will help you stay asleep longer for then you won't have to wake as many times in the night to use the restroom.

  38. Listening to soft relaxing music in the early evening, the type you would like to get a therapeutic massage to will help quiet and settle the mind and the body so that you can unwind from the events of the day. When I have a hard time getting to sleep I put on some soft relaxing music and while laying in bed I practice deep even breathing for a little while and soon find myself in a relaxed state desiring to drift off to sleep, perhaps it gets enough good clean air into my lungs so that my body can then do a good job of sleeping.

  39. Some excellent CD’s for relaxing are: Merlin’s Magic Light Reiki Touch, Reiki Offering, Reiki Healing Hands, and Reiki Part Two are all CD’s I have and love very much and recommend for you to try. By searching "Reiki Music" on the internet you can find many sources to purchase these CD’s from.

  40. If you drink alcohol do so in moderation. What is moderation? For better health, limit what you drink so that you are legal to drive yourself home. You never know when a loved one may call or stop by needing your assistance and find you too drunk to help out.

  41. If you are in an unpleasant marriage or relationship, make it good or get out. Relationships where a husband and wife have ceased being a husband and wife and are just co-existing in the same household without love and affection honors no one. You can't care for others if you don't take care of yourself first. Our bodies truly are the "Temple Of God" that he admonishes us in the scriptures to honor and take care of.

  42. If you are in a relationship, create and maintain a healthy monogamous sex life. When we are being deceived or deceitful our instincts pick up on it and the confusion causes disturbance in our positive flow of energy which can lead to disease in the body. As stated by Carolyn Myss "Your spirit and your body thrive on living honorably".

  43. If you are in a relationship, communicate with each other at times you are not being sexual about what you want so that you can check in to make sure you are both being satisfied with the relationship. Loving and caring lovemaking offers many positive health benefits, burns calories, releases endorphins, gets the blood flowing, and is very healthy for a you!

  44. According to medical doctor Norm Shealy, a healthy body needs a sexual release approximately three times a week. Any muscle will atrophy if it is not getting regular stimulation and blood flow to feed it the needed nutrients it needs for proper functioning. Use it or lose it!

  45. Eat junk food in moderation, in fact, consume all things in moderation. We don't have to deprive ourselves of everything, just eat smaller quantities and earlier in the day. Some things are just "junk". Be picky; only eat things that "taste" worth the calories you'll be consuming. Your body is intuitive as to what it needs, listen to it, honor it, and it will serve you well!

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Note: At your first appointment you will need to fill out some paperwork and read, sign and date a Policies and Procedures form; please allow extra time for such. Thank you.

  1. This is strictly a therapeutic massage. Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by me (the client) will result in immediate termination of the session and no refund will be given.

  2. Payment is due at time of service.

  3. There must be a 24 hour notice of cancellation to receive credit for a missed appointment including those paid for in advance or booked with a gift certificate. Bev has the right to bill me for the scheduled time if a 24 hour advance notice of cancellation is not given. In the event that I am unable to keep an appointment I may send someone else in my place so that the paid session does not go to waste.

  4. Referrals are very much appreciated and will be kept record of. When my friends tell Bev I referred them, I will receive 10% off my next session for each person who gets bodywork from my referral. For example, if two people get bodywork from Bev before my next appointment, at my next appointment I would then receive a 20% discount from the cost of my bodywork. No cash refunds will be given when paying with certificates; however credit will accumulate until I have earned a certificate for a free session of bodywork.

  5. Gift certificates are available upon request. 50 minutes = $65, 75 minutes = $85 90 minutes $100. Each session is sold separately and must be redeemed by one person in one visit. For example, if I purchase a 90 minute session, I must make an appointment for 90 minutes, I can not divide it between several visits.

  6. Each session of bodywork includes 10 minutes for consultation and dressing time.

  7. As a bodywork client of Bevs, I am entitled to receive a 10% discount off from the PERSONAL POWER PILLOWCASES and PERSONALITY PILLOWCASES which Bev lovingly designs and imprints with the energy of love. They are for purchase on the products and services page of this website.

  8. I will benefit most from the massage if I am completely undressed between the sheets. This allows Bev to work my muscles without needing to work around underclothing. If I am menstruating and would like to leave my underwear on, I will inform Bev of such. Draping is done in a modest manner in which only the portion of the body being worked on is left undraped at a time.

  9. There are modalities that do not require me to get undressed so if I am concerned about being completely nude between the sheets I may express my concerns to Bev and together we will decide which modality would best fit my personal needs. If I am uncertain of all the modalities available, I may ask Bev to explain and demonstrate them to me.

  10. Oil stains do not always come out in the wash, however all linens used for my session have been cleaned and sanitized for my personal use.

  11. I am welcome to bring my own relaxing CD to listen to. There are several CD's available in the room to choose from that go well with massage so I may look them over and ask Bev to put in a particular CD if I see something I would like to hear.

  12. Water is very important to the health of my body. My body is full on toxins from the pollution in the air I breathe, from things I eat and drink that are not healthy for me, etc. Bodywork increases circulation, causes lymph to drain the toxins out of my system, increases blood flow to my vital organs and muscles so they can get the nutrients they require to stay healthy, and tones my muscles.

  13. When I receive massage or bodywork of any kind it creates a flow of energy throughout my body which can help release blockages thus allowing the blood supply to reach all my vital organs and muscles. When these blockages are released toxins need a way to be expelled from my body, by drinking a lot of water, especially right after receiving bodywork, I can expel these toxins through my urine. If I do not drink a lot of water these toxins may cause me to have flu like symptoms thus creating a way for my body to expel them.

  14. Everyday if I drink lots of water I will feel better. For optimal health, it is recommended that I drink at least 1/2 my weight in ounces of water each day. It would be good to carry a water bottle with me where ever I go so that I have water available to drink at all times. If I am thirsty, my body is already dehydrated. If I have strong smelling or dark yellow colored urine, I am already dehydrated. My body is at least 70 percent water, thus so ought to be my diet. Drinking lots of water is one of the best health habits I can model for and teach to my children.

  15. It is my responsibility to tell Bev before receiving bodywork what medications I am on and if they can be affected by bodywork; what previous injuries I have had that should be given special care; and what areas of concern I would like focused on during my bodywork session. If I am not sure how bodywork affects the medication I am on or an illness I may have, I will ask my doctor if it is alright to receive bodywork before receiving massage.

  16. It is not safe to have alcohol in my system the day I receive bodywork as massage would increase the flow of the alcohol throughout my system causing further intoxication, and could send me into cardiac arrest. Knowing this, I agree not to consume alcohol the day I am scheduled to receive bodywork

  17. Everyone views pressure differently. If I feel Bev is going too deep and I don't like the pressure, I may ask for less pressure; if I want more pressure, I may ask for deeper work. I understand that I need to breathe with all the strokes for the work to be effective. Deep compression when released sends a rush of blood and oxygen to my muscles to help them heal, so breathing slowly and deeply with the deep strokes will benefit my body. I will let Bev know that I have had enough if I am finding it difficult to breathe.

  18. Bev is working my muscles and their attachments to help lengthen them for greater flexibility; I can keep my muscles stretched out by stretching out at home each day. Bev will gladly show me stretching exercises that I can do for specific areas of my body if I will just ask her.

  19. Getting proper rest, keeping a positive attitude, forgiving myself and others, letting go of anger, rubbing my body with sesame seed oil after each shower or bath, stretching out my muscles, breathing very deeply several times throughout the day so as to push out the old air and get fresh oxygen in, drinking lots of water and eating healthy fresh foods are some things I can do on a daily basis to help keep myself in optimal great health.

Note: Unrefined sesame seed or extra virgin olive oil is the massage oil that Bev uses when giving massages. According to Deepak Chopra, M.D., world famous endocrinologist and teacher, sesame seed oil supplies our bodies with rich nutrients and keeps our skin and bodies healthy and well. It is good for my body to rub one of these oils all over my body after each bath or shower then let it absorb into my skin before dressing so that I don’t get oil stains on my clothing.

"Happiness isn't about what happens to us---it's about how we perceive what happens to us. It's the knack of finding a positive for every negative, and viewing a set back as a challenge. It's not wishing for what we don't have, but enjoying what we do possess."
--- Lynn Peters
